Our Wealth, Our Country

“We demand our fair share”

“Our Wealth, Our Country” (OWOC) has been formed to unify all those Guyanese who want “Prosperity for All,” and are enraged about the unfair, sellout oil contract that gives Guyana crumbs of 14.5% of the sales of all oil income, but gives away 85.5% to the oil operators (Exxon, CNOOC and HESS).

It’s the worst oil contract in the whole world. How can we have such bad luck to have leaders who would sell us out like that? Even Suriname next door has a better contract. We want change!!

If the current contract is not changed, our working class will always be poor, because now the “rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer.” We need the good life for all our rice and other farmers, fishermen, housewives, pensioners, sugar workers, small businesses, market vendors, retail salespeople, civil servants, youths, students, single parents, nurses, policemen, security guards, and those depending on public assistance and vulnerable populations. They all deserve prosperity now. It’s time for the ship to come in for the working people of Guyana.

Despite much abundance of natural resources in Guyana (oil, gold, diamond, bauxite, manganese, precious stones, timber, fisheries, rice, sugar, coconuts, vegetables, ground provisions, agriculture, silica sand, sand, stone, etc.), Guyana has the lowest standard of living. We have the lowest currency of all CARICOM countries. This is a shame!!
